What’s It Like to Work with 22 Lemons Communications?

Think of it as having a creative marketing partner in your corner. We take the time to learn about you, your books, your readers, and where you want your author career to go, then build our work around what will actually help you get there. You’ll always know what we’re working on and what comes next, and yes, we’ll probably share a few laughs and a lemon pun or two along the way.

How Long Does a Typical Project Take?

This can vary quite a bit depending on what we’re working on together. A focused marketing refresh or content project may only take a week or two, while an author website, launch strategy, or larger marketing project may take several weeks. Before we begin, we’ll talk through your publishing schedule, deadlines, and deliverables and establish a timeline that works for both of us. No mystery subplot required.

What Is Your Process Like?

Our process is equal parts strategy, storytelling, and collaboration.

Discovery: We start by getting to know you, your books, your readers, your publishing goals, and where you could use a little extra support.

Strategy: We determine what will make the biggest difference and create a plan around your priorities, timeline, and budget.

Creation: This is where the pieces start coming together. Depending on your project, we may write copy, create graphics, edit videos, develop campaigns, plan content, or build out your marketing strategy.

Refinement: You review, we fine-tune, and together we make sure everything sounds like you, supports your books, and feels right for your readers.

How Do You Define Author Brand Voice?

Your author brand voice is the personality readers experience whenever they hear from you outside the pages of your books. It shows up on your website, in newsletters, across social media, in blog posts, and everywhere else you connect with your audience. We help you find a voice that feels natural to you while staying recognizable and consistent for your readers. You shouldn't have to sound like a marketing department to market your books. You should sound like you.

Do You Write the Content or Just Create the Strategy?

Both! Some authors come to us because they want a clear marketing plan they can carry out themselves. Others would much rather hand over some of the writing and creative work. We can help with website copy, newsletters, blogs, social media content, email sequences, book launch campaigns, reader communications, and more. We can provide the strategy, create the content, or combine the two depending on how hands-on you'd like to be.

How Much Do Your Services Cost?

We know author marketing budgets can look very different, especially for indie authors, so we offer several ways to work together. Our focused services and projects start around $150, our three signature marketing packages offer different levels of support, and ongoing monthly retainers start at $250 per month. Larger launches, websites, and customized marketing projects are quoted based on the scope of work. We’ll always be upfront about pricing before we begin and help you find an option that makes sense for your goals and budget. No surprise invoices and no pressure to purchase more support than you actually need. Check out our services and pricing here, or book a complimentary consultation to tell us what you're working on.

Do You Work Outside of Your Local Area?

Absolutely! 22 Lemons works virtually with authors and publishing professionals regardless of where they're located. We use video calls, email, shared documents, and other online tools to keep projects moving, which means great book marketing doesn't require us to be in the same ZIP code.

Do You Offer Design Services Too?

Yes, with a focus on marketing design rather than full-scale book or brand design. We can create social media graphics, promotional materials, branded templates, simple marketing assets, and edit short-form videos or reels to support your books and author platform. For specialized projects such as book covers, custom logos, or complete visual rebrands, we're happy to work alongside your existing designer or help make sure the marketing pieces stay consistent with the brand they've created.

What If I Already Have a Publisher, Publicist, or Marketing Team?

Wonderful! We’re happy to be another set of hands and ideas at the table. 22 Lemons can complement the support you already have by filling marketing gaps, creating content, supporting launches, helping with newsletters and websites, developing reader-focused campaigns, or taking on projects your existing team doesn't have the capacity to handle.

We’re here to collaborate, not compete with the people already helping bring your books into the world.
